Total Works

A seven-module office suite built to run inside a browser tab. Documents open in movable, resizable windows within one shared desktop, so switching between a letter, a spreadsheet and a presentation works the way people already expect it to.

The suite covers word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, a database, desktop publishing, drawing and a diary. It reads and writes common file formats, installs as an app on phones and tablets, and is deliberately built to stay usable on older hardware and slower connections.

SplatMyFace

A browser game with a deliberately simple premise: upload a photo, choose something to throw, and hit the faces in the picture. The face detection runs in the visitor's own browser rather than on our servers, so images are not sent away merely to work out where a face is.

Anything a visitor submits for public display is held for human review before it appears. Rankings cover both pictures and players, and the whole thing is built on our own server-side code rather than an off-the-shelf platform.

Deliberately boring where boring is better

A product should not become unmaintainable because a framework went out of fashion. Both of ours were written from scratch and run on infrastructure we control.

The same people write the code, run the servers and answer support.
Short dependency lists, so there is less to break and less to wait on.
User-submitted content is reviewed by a person before it is published.
Applications are built to keep working on older machines and slower connections.
Features ship when they work properly, not on a marketing calendar.
